This 3x5 file card has been signed in pencil by Charlie Chaplin. It was signed "Chas Chaplin" on the reverse unlined side. The signature was obtained by Stanley Kolowski, who started collecting in-person autographs in the late '40s. The signature was acquired while Chaplin was attending a Broadway performance, believed to be in 1950. The card had been trimmed to about 2 3/8" x 5" and taped in the recipient's scrapbook for about fifty years. The reverse has adhesive residue from the tape, and there are some stains on the front also.
